DAVID MICHAEL HARRIS

Born January 15, 1980 in a rural town west of Baltimore, MD, David Harris grew up an outgoing, avid athlete. He is a son to Jim and JoAnne Harris, brother to Christie (Harris) Poe, uncle and godfather to Jeremy Poe and uncle to Holly Poe. He played baseball and soccer throughout high school, serving as Co-Captain of his baseball and soccer teams, both of which won State Championships during his senior year. After graduating from Glenelg High School in 1998, he attended Wesley College in Dover, DE, where he played baseball and became a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity. In 2003, Dave graduated from Wesley with a Bachelor of Science in Communications and went on to play Professional Baseball for the Montgomery Alabama Wings. On July 18, 2004, Dave's car crashed into a tree near his parents home. The accident nearly took his life and has left him paralyzed. Today, after many surgeries and setbacks, Dave is working to regain his motor function despite the effects of his severe spinal cord injuries.

This site was created to keep you, those who know and love Dave, informed of his progress and to keep everyone informed on the fund raising events to raise money for the many home renovations and equipment not covered by insurance. Any money left over will go towards Spinal Cord Injury research. There is hope that one day in the near future there will be a cure. On behalf of myself, Dave, and my parents, I wanted to thank all of you for your love, support, and dedication. I know some of you do not even know us personally. I hope to meet each of you to thank you in person. The generosity, thoughts, and prayers mean more than we could ever put into words. A special thanks to Ron Esworthy, the Sheriff that by fate found him that night, the West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department and Shock Trauma for ultimately saving his life.
